Product Analyst
I developed my work at chassis engineering, more precisely at suspension area, in the FCA assembly plant located in Betim, Brazil.
I was technically responsible for the following components:
- Wheel bearings (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation);
- Front and read knuckle;
- Spindle or shaft;
- All fastenings in the car chassis;
My main tasks were related to the product lifecycle management of these components, which specifically involved:
- The development of new components conception and technologies involved;
- Perform benchmarking;
- Cost, calculus, crash-tests and geometry analysis;
- Troubleshooting of all the issues involving my components in the car final assembly lines;
- Perform the FMEA and checklist tests to validate the components;
- Assist, supervise and meeting all the suppliers that currently produce the components I am responsible;
- Fastened joint design and calculation of car chassis;
- Standardization of components;
- Meet the premises established by the company to develop new projects by following the predefined standards.
This job brought me to a product engineering view that I never see before, which I considered so much important for my further studies or jobs.

Engineering trainee

CAD/CAM Programmer
This was my first experience inside a corporation environment, and it was in metal stamping, welding and machining area, which allowed me to understand all the manufacturing knowledge learned previously in the vocational school and apply all university related studies. During two years I was intern at the company, working in a new project for semi-automatic welding machine and during another two years I was CAD/CAM Programmer at machining center and developing engineering.
My main responsibilities were as intern:
- Make the detailed drafting for manufacturing purpose of all components of two different semi-automatic welding machines (MIG), one variable unwinder for metal coils for automatic press, and a roller table to allow put the die tool inside the press (Using AutoCAD);
- Provide support to the press and die tools maintenance area, drawing broken parts in order to manufacture a new one and at same time create a comprehensive documented files library of all parts that comes to my hand;
- Modeling all 2D designs into 3D in order to make simulations and/or modifications be more easily to be done;
My main responsibilities were as CAD/CAM Programmer:
- Perform modeling (2D/3D) of sheet metal stamping dies for automotive parts and design devices for them (SolidWorks, NX6, AutoCAD);
- With the models, do the programming inside CAM software in order to obtain all the code necessary for manufacturing a new part (Machining or EDM process);
- Manage the main demands needed for maintenance of broken die tools inserts (Punch, blocks, plates, pilots, etc) or the press maintenance needs (gears, shafts, etc);
- EDM (electrical discharge machining) and machining center operation;
- Management of hours spent by our sector for maintenance of operational die tools and the hours for developing new devices for press assembly production and new sheet metal die tools;
- Leading the team when our leader was out or for vacation (7 co-workers).
